Were any of the characters from the Last of the Jedi series in some of the earlier Timothy Zahn books? I say say there was one character, my friend says no, couldn't be because there's too much difference in the time line.

Looking for fanfiction...

Has anyone seen a collection of fanfiction to do with either the characters of the Last of the Jedi series? I know I occasionally see a story with Ferus Olin but thought I remembered others that I haven't been able to find.

Here's some interesting information...

I found this through jedi_news, a link to an entry at TheForce.Net about a new series titled Rebel Force from Scholastic.

Here's part of what it says:

"...an entry on Amazon.com for a new Scholastic book called Rebel Force. It could be a one shot young adult novel, but with Last of the Jedi ending this month it seems likely that Rebel Force is the title of the new young adult series. Given that Luke, Leia and Han are all mentioned in the entry, it seems likely that this series is set after A New Hope."

"No author or release date have been attached to this book as of yet. Jude Watson, author of several other Star Wars series, seems a likely contender. Given that the previous Scholastic series have always led into each other, it’s probable that whoever is writing this new series will pick up on some of Watson’s plot threads. Possible storylines could involve Lune, a Force sensitive child, Trever, friend of Jedi Quest and Last of the Jedi character Ferus Olin, or Deara, Leia’s aunt who was exiled from Alderaan in Last of the Jedi #9."

"The return to the Rebellion era marks a circle completed for Scholastic. The first Star Wars books from the publisher were set in this era—notable series from days past include the twenty volume Star Wars Missions and the two book Science Adventures. The latter was written by Jude Watson, and was canceled before the story could be concluded. It’s possible the storyline might finally be resolved in Rebel Force. Since 2000, nearly all of the original Star Wars stories from Scholastic have been set in the prequel era."

So we still have a chance that our favorite characters will pop up somewhere!

New Obi-Wan book coming in the fall...

There's a new book planned titled Star Wars: The Life and Legend of Obi-Wan Kenobi. It's a young adult novel and is being written by Ryder Windham. As of now, the release date is October 2008. It takes place between 39 BBY and 4 ABY (according to Wookieepedia) and is said to re-tell the Star Wars story from Obi-Wan's point of view.

Here's what starwars.com says about it:

For younger readers, Scholastic Inc. is giving Obi-Wan Kenobi the similar biography treatment they gave Darth Vader recently, with Star Wars: The Life and Legend of Obi-Wan Kenobi. This unique examination of the six-part movie saga centers around Obi-Wan, and his evolving role as Jedi, General, hermit and mentor. It is written by Ryder Windham, with cover and slipcase art by Hugh Fleming. It is due out in October of 2008.

And nowhere does it say that this will be a series even though it's for younger readers. This is a hardcover book too and the younger reader books usually are not.

There's no character list yet but fans of Ferus Olin can always hope he will put in an appearance, a possibility since it's been said Ferus lived until Alderaan's destruction and watched over Leia Organa.

Here's the artwork that's included with the information at starwars.com:

Reckoning spoilers?

My local stores STILL don't have Reckoning. I don't mind spoilers if anyone knows where any reliable ones are! Or reviews or summaries...

(no subject)

The last book in the Last of the Jedi series, Reckoning, was released today. We should find out what happens to Ferus Olin in this book and since Darth Vader's on the cover, he's likely to figure heavily in the story.

#10 Reckoning...

Here's a little peek at Reckoning, the 10th and last book of the Last of the Jedi series, out June 2008...

When Ferus Olin was a young Jedi apprentice, his rival was a headstrong student named Anakin Skywalker. Now Ferus is older, trying to save the Jedi order from extinction. His enemy, however, remains the same. Because Anakin Skywalker is now Darth Vader... and Darth Vader wants Ferus Olin destroyed. This is their final encounter. The fate of the galaxy hangs in the balance.

Have you read #8 yet?

I finally got to the store and bought the latest Last of the Jedi book and have started reading it. The characters have certainly come a long way from the events in the first book.

Feel free to talk about your thoughts on the book in this post...

The community's up and running!

WELCOME to swlastofthejedi, a fan community for Jude Watson’s series of Star Wars books, Last of the Jedi, published by Scholastic. This is a 10 book series and is said to be for “young readers” but I’m an older fan and I’m sure there are others. To me it’s facinating to read about things that happened in between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. The main characters are Ferus Olin, a former Jedi Padawan who knew Anakin Skywalker (but assumes him to be dead which means he does not realize he is current rival Darth Vader), and Trever Flume, a young boy who lived on the streets after his family’s deaths. Both Darth Vader and Obi-Wan Kenobi put in appearances in the series, as does Palpatine.

This community is for discussion, questions, spoilers, summaries, links, fanfiction, pictures, artwork, icons, and speculation about the series.
